Joneshouse Recruitment is proud to support an exciting new SEMH specialist setting in Dudley, now seeking an experienced Deputy Headteacher to join their Senior Leadership Team. This is a powerful opportunity to influence whole-school development and transform the educational experiences of young people who need bespoke, nurturing support.


About the School

This independent SEMH school supports students aged 11–16, many with EHCPs and diagnoses such as ADHD or ASD.
The school offers a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment for pupils who have struggled in mainstream education or are at risk of exclusion.

The team is passionate about building confidence, fostering independence, and enabling every student to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.


The Role

As Deputy Headteacher, you will play a central role in leading school improvement, driving high standards, and ensuring the delivery of an exceptional, personalised education. You’ll work closely with senior leaders, support staff development, and contribute to the strategic direction of the school—all while delivering a small teaching timetable.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead as part of the Senior Leadership Team

  • Drive whole-school improvement strategies

  • Oversee curriculum quality, teaching standards, and pupil progress

  • Manage staff teams, resources, and operational priorities

  • Deputise for senior leaders when required

  • Lead the day-to-day delivery of teaching and learning

  • Support staff development, training, and appraisal processes

  • Teach a small timetable as part of your leadership role

  • Identify safeguarding trends and ensure robust safeguarding practice

  • Deliver safeguarding training to staff

  • Support and manage a wide range of behavioural needs

  • Attend multi-agency meetings to advocate for pupils and support assessments


Requirements

  • Proven leadership experience within a school setting

  • Strong understanding of Ofsted requirements and school improvement

  • Experienced in safeguarding, curriculum leadership, and staff management

  • Highly skilled classroom practitioner passionate about driving standards

  • Strong behaviour management expertise

  • In-depth understanding of the SEND Code of Practice

  • Knowledge of Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE)
