Overview
An experienced safeguarding and support professional with extensive knowledge of domestic abuse, safe accommodation services, housing management, and multi-agency working. Skilled in supporting adults, children and families affected by trauma, abuse and complex needs, whilst ensuring their safety, wellbeing and successful transition towards independent living. Experienced in leading teams, managing service delivery, coordinating referrals and maintaining high standards of safeguarding, risk management and client support.
Key Skills and Experience
Leadership and Service Management
- Experience leading and supporting multidisciplinary teams delivering refuge and dispersed safe accommodation services.
- Ability to supervise, motivate and develop staff through regular supervision, appraisals and performance management.
- Skilled in managing rotas, service resources, referrals, allocations and accommodation voids.
- Experience monitoring service performance, outcomes and quality standards to ensure contractual compliance.
- Ability to oversee case management and ensure effective support planning across a team.
Domestic Abuse Support and Advocacy
- Extensive experience supporting adults and children affected by domestic abuse and trauma.
- Skilled in delivering person-centred support, advocacy and practical assistance to individuals experiencing crisis.
- Experience developing safety plans and support plans tailored to individual risks and needs.
- Ability to empower victims and survivors to make informed decisions and rebuild independence.
- Knowledge of domestic abuse dynamics, coercive control and trauma-informed approaches.
Safeguarding and Risk Management
- Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation, child protection procedures and adult safeguarding responsibilities.
- Experience conducting risk assessments and implementing effective risk management strategies.
- Ability to identify, assess and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns and escalating risks.
- Knowledge of MARAC processes and high-risk domestic abuse case management.
- Commitment to maintaining the safety and welfare of vulnerable adults and children.
Housing and Accommodation Management
- Understanding of housing issues affecting families fleeing domestic abuse.
- Experience supporting clients to access and maintain safe accommodation.
- Knowledge of tenancy sustainment, resettlement planning and move-on support.
- Ability to monitor accommodation standards, health and safety requirements and property-related issues.
- Experience supporting clients with housing applications, benefits and accessing community resources.
Multi-Agency Partnership Working
- Extensive experience working collaboratively with social care, housing, education, health services, police, probation and voluntary sector organisations.
- Ability to develop and maintain strong professional partnerships to improve outcomes for clients.
- Experience attending and contributing to multi-agency meetings and safeguarding forums.
- Skilled in representing client needs and advocating effectively with external agencies.
Case Management and Administration
- Experience managing complex caseloads and ensuring timely reviews of support plans and risk assessments.
- Ability to maintain accurate, confidential and up-to-date case records.
- Skilled in report writing, monitoring outcomes and producing case summaries.
- Understanding of data protection, confidentiality and information-sharing requirements.
- Competent in the use of electronic case management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong advocacy, negotiation and relationship-building abilities.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, partner agencies and stakeholders.
- Skilled in delivering presentations, awareness sessions and training where required.
Crisis Intervention and Problem Solving
- Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations.
- Strong crisis management skills and confidence responding to emergencies.
- Effective decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience supporting clients through criminal justice, civil remedies and safeguarding processes.
Additional Requirements
- Full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle and business insurance.
- Willingness to travel across Hampshire as required.
- Ability to participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota.
- Enhanced DBS clearance.
