SEN Tutor (Casual)

Location: Stockport

Pay: £25–£40 per hour (depending on experience) plus travel expenses

Hours: Casual role (approximately 6–8 hours per week)

About the Role

Joneshouse Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of a specialist education provider for a passionate and dedicated SEN Tutor to support children and young people across Stockport.

This rewarding role involves providing personalised, one-to-one tuition for learners with Special Educational Needs (SEN), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, anxiety, or those who are unable to access mainstream education.

Working face-to-face in students’ homes, you will help learners rebuild confidence, re-engage with education, and achieve positive outcomes through tailored teaching and support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging one-to-one tuition in students’ homes.
  • Teach Maths, English and targeted interventions at Key Stage 3 and Foundation Key Stage 4 level.
  • Plan and adapt lessons to meet individual learning needs.
  • Support children and young people with SEN and SEMH needs to re-engage with education.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with learners.
  • Work collaboratively with safeguarding and education professionals.
  • Monitor progress and provide regular feedback on learner development.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure a safe, supportive learning environment.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Essential

  • Experience working with children and young people with SEN and/or SEMH needs.
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.

Highly Desirable

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS.
  • Previous experience delivering one-to-one tuition.
