Salary: £30,160 – £32,656 per annum (DOE) + Approx. £7,200 per annum in sleep-in payments

Joneshouse Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Senior Residential Support Worker / Deputy Manager to join a dedicated children’s residential home in Northampton.

About the Role

As a Senior Residential Support Worker / Deputy Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operation of the home, leading shifts, mentoring staff, and ensuring the highest standards of care are delivered at all times.

Working closely with the Registered Manager, you will help create a positive, child-centred environment where young people can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead shifts and ensure the safe and effective running of the home.
  • Support the Registered Manager with the day-to-day management of the service.
  • Complete inductions and mentor new team members.
  • Supervise and support staff through regular guidance and coaching.
  • Complete care plans, risk assessments, daily recordings and documentation.
  • Carry out weekly operational checks and maintain accurate records.
  • Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are followed at all times.
  • Monitor and report on young people’s progress, behaviours and wellbeing.
  • Support other homes within the organisation when required.
  • Complete QCF Level 4 qualification (where applicable).

Deputy Manager Responsibilities

In addition to the above, the Deputy Manager will:

  • Act as the designated person in charge in the absence of the Registered Manager.
  • Support staffing, rota management and operational leadership.
  • Assist with Ofsted inspections, Regulation 44 visits and external audits.
  • Support quality assurance and continuous service improvement.

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Level 3 or Level 4 qualification in Residential Childcare.
  • Minimum two years’ experience working within children’s residential care.
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding, Ofsted regulations and children’s residential legislation.
  • Experience leading shifts and supervising staff.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Confidence driving, including motorway and night driving.
  • Enhanced DBS check.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
