Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week plus on-call duties (4-week rolling rota)

Lead a Brand-New Children’s Residential Home

Joneshouse Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Registered Manager to lead a brand-new 2-bed Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) children’s home in Worsop, NG20.

This is an exciting opportunity to establish and develop a new service from the ground up, creating a safe, therapeutic and nurturing environment for children with emotional and behavioural needs. The successful candidate will play a key role in building a high-performing team, achieving regulatory excellence and delivering outstanding outcomes for young people.

About the Role

As Registered Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the home, ensuring the highest standards of care, safeguarding and regulatory compliance.

You will oversee all operational aspects of the service, including staff recruitment, rota management, quality assurance and preparation for Ofsted inspections, while working closely with the Operations Manager to establish a successful and sustainable service.

The home will support children with:

• Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD)
• Mental health needs (CAMHS involvement)
• Attachment and trauma-related experiences
• Learning disabilities and autism (where appropriate)

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day operation of the children’s residential home.
• Create a safe, therapeutic and child-centred environment.
• Recruit, develop and retain a high-performing staff team using safer recruitment practices.
• Manage rotas and workforce planning to ensure effective staffing levels.
• Complete or work towards the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare.
• Ensure full compliance with Ofsted regulations, Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards.
• Prepare for and lead Ofsted inspections, implementing continuous improvement plans.
• Develop and oversee personalised care plans that meet each child’s individual needs.
• Promote positive outcomes in education, health, emotional wellbeing and independence.
• Work collaboratively with families, local authorities, CAMHS and other professionals.
• Lead safeguarding practices and ensure the welfare of all children remains paramount.
• Manage budgets, resources and operational performance.
• Provide effective leadership, supervision, coaching and performance management for staff.

What We’re Looking For

Essential

• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services (or equivalent), or currently working towards it.
• Minimum of three years’ experience supporting children with emotional and behavioural needs, mental health needs, trauma, attachment difficulties, learning disabilities or autism.
• Previous management experience within a children’s residential setting.
• Strong knowledge of Ofsted regulations and children’s residential legislation.
• Experience developing and implementing individual care plans.
• Excellent leadership, organisational and communication skills.
• Experience with rota planning, safer recruitment and staff retention.

Desirable

• Previous experience as an Ofsted Registered Manager or at least two years’ experience as a Deputy Manager.
• Additional training in therapeutic practice, mental health or special educational needs.
• Experience working alongside multidisciplinary teams and external agencies.
