About the Role
Joneshouse Recruitment is currently recruiting for an experienced Registered Children’s Care Home Manager to lead a brand-new 3-bed residential children’s home in York.
The home will support children and young people with learning disabilities and emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD).
This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and experienced Registered Manager to play a key role in developing a new service from the ground up, building a strong team and creating an environment where children and young people can thrive.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape the service, drive high standards of care and play an important role in its future development.
Key Responsibilities
- Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the home.
- Ensure the service operates in accordance with Ofsted regulations, the Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards.
- Act as a strong advocate for the children and young people, promoting their welfare, safety, rights and development.
- Lead, motivate and develop a team of Support Workers and Senior Support Workers.
- Provide effective coaching, supervision and professional development.
- Create and manage staff rotas to ensure the home is appropriately staffed at all times.
- Build positive and professional relationships with children, families, social workers and other external professionals.
- Oversee budgets, reporting and quality assurance processes.
- Lead continuous improvement across the home and maintain consistently high standards of care.
- Prepare the home and team for inspections and ensure any required actions are implemented effectively.
Person Specification
Essential Requirements
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare, or willingness to work towards this.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Registered Manager, or 5 years’ experience as a Deputy Manager, within a children’s residential setting.
- Proven experience leading, developing and managing care teams.
- Strong knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards.
- Experience supporting children and young people with learning disabilities and complex behaviours.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
- A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people.
Desirable Requirements
- Previous experience setting up and developing a new children’s residential home.
- Leadership experience outside of residential childcare.
- Knowledge of therapeutic approaches and positive behaviour support.
