About the Role

Joneshouse Recruitment is currently recruiting for an experienced and passionate Registered Manager to lead a children’s residential home in Derby.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced residential childcare professional to take responsibility for the day-to-day management of the home, leading a dedicated staff team and ensuring children and young people receive high-quality, safe and nurturing care.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining full regulatory compliance, promoting positive outcomes for young people and ensuring the home operates in line with Ofsted requirements, safeguarding legislation and the Children’s Homes Regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Register with Ofsted as the Registered Manager for the home.
• Ensure compliance with the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and associated Quality Standards.
• Lead, motivate and develop a high-performing residential care team.
• Promote the safeguarding, welfare and wellbeing of all children and young people.
• Oversee staffing, recruitment, supervision and performance management.
• Maintain consistently high standards of care and person-centred support.
• Develop and review care plans, risk assessments and placement plans.
• Manage budgets and resources effectively.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with local authorities, families, schools, healthcare professionals and other external agencies.
• Prepare for and lead Ofsted inspections, working towards Good or Outstanding outcomes.
• Ensure accurate record keeping and ongoing regulatory compliance.

Essential Requirements

• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or willingness to achieve this within the required timescale.
• Minimum of 2 years’ management experience within a children’s residential setting.
• At least 2 years’ experience working with children and young people in residential care.
• Strong knowledge of Ofsted regulations, safeguarding legislation and Children’s Homes Quality Standards.
• Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable Experience

• Previous experience managing an Ofsted-registered children’s home.
• A track record of achieving Good or Outstanding Ofsted inspection outcomes.
• Experience supporting children and young people with emotional and behavioural needs.
