Join Our Team as a Part-Time Family Support Worker.  We’re currently recruiting Part-Time Family Support Workers to join our pool of flexible agency staff at Joneshouse Recruitment. This is a highly rewarding role providing support to families in the Portsmouth area.
Whether you’re an experienced Family Support Worker, Outreach Worker, Teacher, Foster Carer, Parenting Assessor—or you’ve supported parents in similar roles (particularly around routines and boundaries)—we’d love to hear from you.
This is a flexible, part-time position, ideal for those available during mornings, evenings, weekends, and school holidays. You will be engaged through Joneshouse Recruitment and placed with families who need your support most.
About the Role

You will deliver practical, compassionate, and targeted support to families facing emotional, financial, or situational challenges. The goal is to strengthen parental confidence, promote positive routines, and create nurturing home environments through strength-based, trauma-informed interventions.
Key Responsibilities:

Support parents in confidently caring for their children and managing emotional development
Work with the whole family to foster secure attachments and consistent routines
Deliver personalised, evidence-based parenting interventions
Guide families on behaviour management, boundaries, and child development
Conduct strength-based assessments and develop outcome-focused plans
Provide practical help (e.g., daily routines, navigating services, attending appointments)
Recognise and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns
Promote resilience and long-term change in home environments
Person Specification Essential:
Background in family support, outreach, education, fostering, or similar roles
Experience supporting parents in creating structure and routine
Understanding of safeguarding, parenting support, and early help processes
Ability to work respectfully and non-judgementally with diverse families
Confident using trauma-informed, strength-based approaches
Strong communication, time management, and record-keeping skills
Desirable:
Relevant qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or Early Years)
Experience delivering parenting programmes (e.g. Triple P, Solihull, Incredible Years)
Familiarity with restorative and resilience-building approaches
Additional Information:

Travel to family homes and community settings is required – you must be able to commute locally to Portsmouth
Enhanced DBS clearance is essential
