Salary: £36,000 – £38,000 per annum (including sleep-in payments)
Shift Pattern: 1 day on, 2 days off
Typical Hours: 08:00 – 23:00 followed by a sleep-in
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
The Opportunity
Joneshouse Recruitment is currently recruiting for an experienced Deputy Manager to join a Children’s Residential Home in Northampton supporting young people with emotional and behavioural needs.
This role offers an opportunity to work closely with the Registered Manager and senior leadership team, helping to deliver high-quality, child-centred care while ensuring the home operates in line with Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Ofsted Quality Standards.
The successful candidate will help lead the staff team, support the development of young people, and ensure the service provides a safe and nurturing environment.
About the Role
As Deputy Manager, you will support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home and take responsibility for the service in their absence.
You will play an important role in maintaining high standards of care, supporting staff development, and ensuring the home delivers positive outcomes for young people.
Key Responsibilities
Service Delivery

Ensure the home operates in line with the Statement of Purpose, Quality Standards, and Children’s Homes Regulations

Maintain high standards of safeguarding, care, and wellbeing for young people

Support the development and regular review of individual care plans
-
Encourage young people’s independence, participation, and community engagement

Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive home environment
Staff Leadership
-
Support the Registered Manager with the day-to-day management of the home

Lead, support, and motivate the residential care team

Promote a positive team culture and effective multi-agency collaboration
Training & Supervision
-
Provide regular supervision and professional development for staff
-
Identify training needs and support staff in delivering effective care and behaviour management
Resource Management

Support the monitoring of budgets and service expenditure

Ensure appropriate staffing levels and safe working practices

Maintain effective use of resources and facilities within the home
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you should have:
Qualifications

Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People’s Workforce (or equivalent)
Experience
-
Minimum 4 years’ experience in children’s residential care

At least 2 years’ experience in a management or senior role within a children’s home
Knowledge

Strong understanding of Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, safeguarding legislation, and Ofsted frameworks
Skills
