About the Role

Jones House Recruitment is seeking a passionate and experienced Deputy Manager to join an Ofsted-registered Children’s Home in Ilkeston, supporting young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).

You’ll play a key role in supporting the Registered Manager to ensure the home provides a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment, enabling every young person to reach their potential.
This role is ideal for an experienced Senior Residential Worker or Deputy Manager looking to take the next step in their leadership journey.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Registered Manager with the daily operational running of the home

• Ensure full compliance with Ofsted and Children’s Homes Regulations 2015

• Lead, motivate, and develop a team of Residential Support Workers

• Create a nurturing environment that promotes positive outcomes for young people

• Manage rotas, supervisions, and appraisals effectively

• Contribute to care planning, risk assessments, and behaviour management strategies

• Support with audits, inspections, and compliance activities

• Promote safeguarding and ensure all incidents are reported appropriately

• Act as a role model, demonstrating empathy, consistency, and professionalism

• Deputise for the Registered Manager when required

Requirements

• Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)

• Working towards or already holding Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare

• Proven experience supporting young people with EBD, complex needs, or trauma backgrounds

• Strong understanding of Ofsted standards, safeguarding, and children’s home legislation

• Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills

• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends

• Full UK driving licence (preferred)
