About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Deputy Manager to join our Ofsted-registered Children’s Home in Ilkeston, supporting young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).

You’ll work closely with the Registered Manager to ensure the home delivers outstanding standards of care and support, creating a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment where every child can thrive. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Residential Worker or Deputy Manager ready to step up into a leadership position within a supportive and forward-thinking organisation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Registered Manager in the daily operational running of the home, ensuring compliance with Ofsted and Children’s Homes Regulations 2015.

  • Lead, motivate, and develop a team of residential support workers to provide high-quality care.

  • Ensure the home provides a safe, nurturing environment that promotes positive outcomes for young people.

  • Manage staff rotas, supervisions, and appraisals effectively.

  • Contribute to care planning, risk assessments, and behaviour management strategies.

  • Support with audits, inspections, and regulatory compliance.

  • Promote safeguarding and ensure all incidents and concerns are managed and reported appropriately.

  • Act as a role model, demonstrating empathy, consistency, and commitment to each young person’s wellbeing and progress.

  • Deputise for the Registered Manager during absence.


Requirements

  • Minimum Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (Children and Young People’s Workforce) – or equivalent.

  • Willingness to work towards or already hold the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare.

  • Previous experience working with young people with EBD, complex needs, or trauma backgrounds.

  • Strong understanding of Ofsted frameworks, safeguarding, and children’s home legislation.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends on a rota basis.

  • Full UK driving licence (preferred).
