The Role

As Pastoral Lead, you will play a central role in championing the wellbeing, progress, and personal development of students. Working closely with the staff team and senior leaders, you will ensure that the school maintains a safe, supportive, and positive environment where every young person can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

• Champion students, staff, and their achievements to promote a strong sense of purpose and pride across the school

• Maintain professional, respectful communication with colleagues, addressing concerns through appropriate channels

• Model and uphold the school’s values while being fair, firm, and supportive with students

• Work alongside the Designated Safeguarding Lead to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all pupils

• Support students in lessons in a teaching assistant capacity when required

• Provide a welcoming, supportive approach to parents, carers, and visitors

• Ensure targeted interventions are in place for vulnerable students and monitor their progress

• Promote positive behaviour across the school through consistent strategies

• Monitor students with Behaviour Support Plans, Pastoral Support Plans, and EHCPs

• Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team, SENDCo, and wider staff to support the pastoral and academic needs of learners

Requirements

• Passionate advocates for students with SEND

• Minimum Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification

• At least 2 years’ experience working within a SEND environment

• Strong communication skills, emotional resilience, and a nurturing approach
