About the Role
Joneshouse Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Registered Manager to lead the registration and launch of a brand-new children’s residential home supporting young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).
This is a rare opportunity to shape a service from the ground up with the full backing of a supportive Director and Responsible Individual. You will take the lead on the Ofsted registration process, including the Fit Person Interview, and oversee all aspects of the home’s day-to-day running once open.
As the Designated Safeguarding Lead, you will ensure the highest standards of care, compliance and staff development while creating a nurturing, structured environment where young people can thrive.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Ofsted registration process, including the Fit Person Interview
  • Open and manage the new children’s home in line with regulations and best practice
  • Recruit, manage, and develop a motivated, skilled staff team
  • Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring robust safeguarding practices
  • Oversee care planning, risk assessments and compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards
  • Implement quality assurance systems and maintain inspection readiness
  • Build strong partnerships with local authorities, families, and professionals
  • Manage budgets, staffing and operational resources
  • Promote therapeutic approaches such as trauma-informed practice and PACE

Person Specification
Essential:
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
  • Proven experience registering and setting up a children’s home with Ofsted
  • Successfully completed a Fit Person Interview
  • At least one Ofsted outcome of “Good” or “Outstanding” achieved as a Registered Manager
  • Minimum 1 year’s experience as a Registered Manager and 2+ years in residential childcare
  • In-depth knowledge of safeguarding, Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 & Quality Standards
  • Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Resilient, flexible and committed to child-centred care
Desirable:
  • Familiarity with local authority commissioning and placement processes
  • Experience in internal audits and quality assurance systems
  • Skilled in leading training and professional development for staff
