Joneshouse Recruitment is currently supporting a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and dedicated Residential Child Care Worker (RCCW) to join a supportive residential childcare team in Sway.
You will play an important role in creating a safe, nurturing and positive environment where young people are supported to develop, achieve their goals and reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
Care & Support
- Build warm, positive and trusting relationships with young people.
- Act as a positive role model and provide consistent emotional and practical support.
- Take responsibility as a Key Worker, supporting the development and review of individual care plans and risk assessments.
- Provide 1:1 support to help young people manage their emotions, achieve personal goals and engage in education and activities.
- Advocate for young people, ensuring their wishes, feelings and choices are heard and considered.
- Support with everyday household responsibilities, including cooking, cleaning and maintaining a safe, comfortable home environment.
Safeguarding & Compliance
- Maintain a strong understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and report concerns promptly and appropriately.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, reports and documentation.
- Ensure all care is delivered in line with relevant legislation, quality standards, health and safety requirements and company policies.
- Promote the welfare, safety and development of every young person.
Teamwork & Development
- Work effectively as part of a dedicated residential childcare team.
- Participate in shift patterns, including evenings, weekends, bank holidays and sleep-in duties.
- Attend team meetings, supervision and training sessions.
- Contribute positively to the culture and development of the home.
- Drive company vehicles when required and in accordance with company policies.

Person Specification
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 12 months’ experience working with children and young people.
- Experience of working independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills and an understanding of professional boundaries.
- Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
- Ability to manage challenging behaviour with patience, resilience and emotional maturity.
- Good written communication and record-keeping skills.
- Self-motivated, reliable and resilient.
- Reflective and open to feedback and professional development.
- Full, clean UK driving licence.
- Level 3 NVQ/Diploma in Health & Social Care (Children & Young People), or willingness to work towards this.
Desirable Requirements
- Previous experience working within a residential children’s home.
- Level 3 or Level 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare.
- Experience within youth services, youth justice or other shift-based environments.
- Qualification or experience in sports, activities or social work.
- Knowledge of current childcare legislation and Quality Standards.
- Outdoor pursuits or activity-based skills.
