The Role

Joneshouse Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Responsible Individual (RI) to provide strategic leadership and regulatory oversight across two children’s residential homes.

This senior leadership role is pivotal in ensuring both services operate to the highest standards of care, governance, and Ofsted compliance. You will work closely with Registered Managers, senior leaders, and external professionals to promote safe, nurturing environments that support stability, independence, and wellbeing for children and young people.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Governance

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight across both residential services (EBD and LD)

• Embed organisational vision, values, and policies consistently across both homes

• Oversee the performance, supervision, and development of Registered Managers

• Provide professional challenge and support to senior leadership teams

Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure full compliance with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards

• Lead on Ofsted readiness, ensuring policies, documentation, and practice meet inspection requirements

• Monitor and respond to regulatory updates, driving continuous service improvement

Operational Oversight

• Oversee the implementation of care plans and delivery of child-centred, therapeutic support

• Monitor staffing levels, training compliance, and professional development

• Support robust safeguarding practice, risk management, and incident reporting

• Ensure high-quality recording, audits, and governance processes

Quality Assurance

• Conduct regular visits to each home, completing RI reports in line with Regulation 44/45 requirements

• Support action planning following audits, inspections, and regulatory feedback

• Drive service improvements to enhance outcomes and experiences for children

Safeguarding & Partnership Working

• Act as the strategic safeguarding lead across both homes

• Develop strong relationships with local authorities, health professionals, education providers, and partner agencies

• Participate in multi-agency forums and escalate concerns where appropriate

Essential Requirements

• Proven experience as a Responsible Individual or Registered Manager within children’s residential care

• In-depth knowledge of Ofsted inspection frameworks and children’s homes legislation

• Demonstrable experience improving service quality and leading high-performing teams

• Experience supporting children with EBD and/or Learning Disabilities

• Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills

Desirable

• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent)

• Experience overseeing multi-site residential services

• Ability to work flexibly and travel between B68 and DY1
