Joneshouse Recruitment is seeking an experienced and driven Responsible Individual (RI) to provide strategic leadership, compliance oversight, and quality assurance across two Ofsted-registered children’s residential homes. This vital role ensures the highest standards of care, safeguarding, and positive outcomes for children and young people.

The RI will work closely with Registered Managers, internal leadership, and external agencies to maintain safe, nurturing homes where children can achieve stability, progress, and independence.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Oversight

• Provide strong leadership, governance, and direction across both services.

• Embed organisational values, quality standards, and positive culture within teams.

• Support and monitor performance of Registered Managers and staff teams.

Regulatory Compliance

• Maintain full compliance with Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Ofsted inspection frameworks.

• Lead Ofsted preparation and ensure continuous improvement in practice, policies, and documentation.

• Analyse regulatory updates and implement improvements across services.

Operational Management

• Oversee person-centred care planning and high-quality safeguarding practice.

• Monitor staffing, professional development, training, and workforce planning.

• Ensure effective incident management, recording standards, and audit processes.

Quality Assurance

• Complete RI visits and reports in line with Regulation 44/45 and internal QA processes.

• Support improvement plans following inspections or audit outcomes.

• Drive consistent delivery of excellent care and measurable outcomes.

Safeguarding & Partnership Working

• Act as strategic safeguarding lead across both homes.

• Build and maintain strong multi-agency relationships.

• Attend key meetings and escalate safeguarding concerns when needed.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Responsible Individual or Registered Manager in children’s residential care.

• Strong understanding of Ofsted frameworks and regulatory compliance.

• Proven ability to lead teams, develop services, and deliver high-quality care.

• Experience supporting young people with EBD and/or Learning Disabilities.

• Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills.

• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).

• Experience managing multi-site residential services.

• Ability to travel flexibly between sites (B68 & DY1).
