Salary: £26,000 – £32,000 per annum + additional pay for sleep-in shifts

About the Role

Joneshouse Recruitment is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Support Worker to join a specialist Children’s Home supporting children and young people with additional learning difficulties (ALD). This role involves providing high-quality care, supporting emotional and educational development, and leading a small team of care professionals to maintain exceptional standards.

You’ll play a key role in creating a safe, nurturing, and structured environment where children can thrive and reach their potential. Flexibility is essential, as the role includes participation in sleep-in shifts (paid at an enhanced rate).

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver day-to-day care and support in line with each child’s care plan.

• Lead, mentor, and supervise junior team members to ensure outstanding care standards.

• Maintain accurate records, reports, and logs in accordance with Ofsted requirements.

• Promote positive behaviour management strategies and help children resolve conflicts.

• Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health, and safety regulations.

• Attend regular team meetings, supervision, and training sessions.

• Undertake sleep-in duties as required (with additional pay).

Requirements

• Experience working in a children’s home or similar environment, ideally with ALD.

• Previous senior or leadership experience is highly desirable.

• Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and Ofsted regulations.

• Excellent communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.

• Flexible approach, including availability for evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins.

• Ability to motivate and support both children and colleagues.
