Salary: £33,149 – £36,363 per annum (based on 39 hours per week)
Additional Pay: £68.25 per sleep-in (approximately £3,276 per year based on one sleep-in per week)
About the Role
Joneshouse Recruitment is recruiting for an experienced Team Leader to join a therapeutic children’s residential home in Kendal, supporting up to five children aged 6–12.
This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate childcare professional to support the day-to-day running of the home, lead by example, and help create a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment where children can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the day-to-day operation of the residential home.
- Lead shifts and provide guidance to the residential care team.
- Deliver high-quality, child-centred therapeutic care.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with children and young people.
- Support children’s emotional wellbeing, education, and personal development.
- Assist with staff supervision, mentoring, and development.
- Plan and participate in activities that promote learning, confidence, and independence.
- Ensure safeguarding procedures and care plans are followed at all times.
- Complete accurate records, reports, and daily documentation.
- Work closely with the management team to maintain high standards of care.
Requirements
Essential
- NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
- Previous experience working in a children’s residential setting.
- Knowledge of therapeutic and trauma-informed care.
- Experience planning activities for children and young people.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Experience supporting or supervising staff.
- Ability to prioritise workloads and lead by example.
- Positive attitude with a commitment to continuous learning.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Working Hours
- 39 hours per week.
- Rota-based shifts, including evenings and weekends.
- Sleep-in shifts required.
